Hey crumpet, sending positive thoughts your way.
I'm hoping that you aren't replying because you've gone to your doctor or hospital, or somebody is now there talking with you.
PM me your number if you like and I'll phone you.
i am considering counselling as i feel i am slipping into a black hole with all of this and could really do with talking it all over with an indepenent "real person" without fear of it coming back to bite me if you know what i mean?
i am still in, considering my options but my head is a mess.
sometimes i think this place can be bad for me (although really i know it's the kh that's the problem .
If you don't go down the NHS route and want to find a counsellor yourself, make sure they are BACP registered. You can check for registered therapists in your own area on their site:
Also, if cost is an issue, there may be charities in your area which offer counselling services on a 'donation only' basis. They will give you as long as you need but they do need funding to keep going! Don't be put off if they are church based/operated charities either - I assure you they won't ram their religion down your throat! It's against BACP codes if they do!
"Practitioners should not allow their professional relationships with clients to be prejudiced by any personal views they may hold about lifestyle, gender, age, disability, race, sexual orientation, beliefs or culture."

robinson: egoism .
egoism .
Very eye-opening article, eclipse, thanks for posting it.
It's raising a whole load of questions in my mind - such as what constitutes a genuine personality? Could egoism minus the altruism be defined as sociopathy - and at what point does one cross over into the other if there is no respecting of 'morals' other than for self-preservation? Can you be altruistic and 'amoral' at the same time?
My head's spinning now! I shall be contemplating these things tonight as I sit through another performance of Dick Whittington!!
Now, am I replying out of altruism?
i don't want to be disrespectful or cause needless disputes, but there are some thoughts that have been bugging me.
i have to wonder why former members aren't doing more to combat the power of the watchtower society.
of course, i realise that some have made great contributions and others have to first make their own healing process a priority.
Possibly some are victims and still feel powerless - you can't easily switch form victim to survivor mindset without first going through a recovery process, which some here are still doing - be that dealing with abuse, loss of family or the feeling of having been conned etc.
Amongst those who are survivors, I believe there is a lot going on against the WTS, like Nvr mentioned, on a one to one basis and amongst friends and family. I have little doubt that there are other larger scale, co-operative campaigns going on too but probably can't be publicised (ever wonder why the campaign strategy section of this board is by invitation only?!).
The fact that boards such as this one exist bears testimony that we are campaigning against the WTS by putting the information out there for all to see - so in a way, even if there are victims here, their presence and sharing of their experiences also becomes part of the campaign.
Again, as Nvr wrote, if one's sole mission in life is to bring any organisation down, it can become very unhealthy and with the reverse result too because it may end up being seen merely as the rantings of a madman.
just a few interesting things i've noticed in exodus, not to mention all the way through the bible, but now just these few.
in exodus 25:40 mentions making after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount.
was moses shown pictures which we are not privy to.
hi logic
I'll try and give you some basic answers to think about!
re:exodus 25:40 - Yes we would have to assume that Moses saw other things not recorded.
re the tabernacle curtains - if you read the whole of Exodus 26, it becomes more understandable why the curtains resisted the winds. The linen ones were surrounded/covered by a further curtain of goat hair, which was then covered by rams - skins and they were covered by sea cow skins (but don't ask me where they got those from!) - so they were well protected. Also, from a textile technology POV, I'm not certain whether they would have had the means to produce what we today would class as 'fine' linen - for the amount they needed, they would have required a lot of water and a lot of chemicals plus a lot of time! The grade of linen they produced would possibly have been quite coarse and therefore heavy.
re the bells - Yes it may have been to alert the guards who stopped anyone other than the priests going into the holy place - thinking about all those layers of skins mentioned earlier, it must have been incredibly dark on the inside.
where i live in australia nice newer 3 bedroom brick houses go for $220,000 up.
i think this is reasonable.
(aust.
2 bedroom (+ a box room so technically 3 bedroom!) brick semi - £120,000 (about $240,000)
If I was starting out now, there's no way I could afford anything - even houses in 'less desireable' areas start at around £80,000 ($160,000). I was fortunate to get on the property ladder just before house prices rocketed in the late 1980's.
i need some help on the holy trinity.
my husband is studying with the witnesses (he's not one of them yet), and is totally buying into the idea that god, jesus and the holy spirit are all separate, not (as i've tried to explain) separate, but also one in the trinity.
i have pointed out the scriptures in john that reference god as the word, and then jesus as the word later.
If you still want to tackle the Trinity, you may find this page useful. It discusses both key scriptures and quotes from the early church fathers:
http://www.reachouttrust.org/articles/doctrine/trinity.htm
It's important that you make a clear differentiation between Jehovah and 'the Father' - because for a JW Jehovah = father, they will sometimes think that a trinitarian believes that all the three persons are 'Jehovah' - hence Jesus and the Holy Spirit also = Jehovah (therefore making them all the same person - which is actually not trinitarian but Sabellian). 'Jehovah', for the sake of argument isn't the name of the father, but the name of 'God' (or the godhead).
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three seperate persons but all sharing the one essence of 'god-ness', basic analogy - like a sports team where all the players are individuals but they play as one, each with their different but equally important roles, all with the same goal in mind.
dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
Another show over 4 down, 5 to go.
I'm wide awake now - wonder whether its my body clock switching to 'night shift' because that's when I'm burning the most energy?
Sad news tonight, my two nieces' kitten had to be euthanised, it's thought she may have been sitting on the tyre under the wheel arch of the neighbours car and... they've both been performing in the panto, should be hearing the bad news about now...

Hi all
tired... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Been at a trade show all day today - ordering for Christmas I've just come home for a couple of hours to have a rest and some tea (dinner!) then I'll be heading back out to do pantomime.
It rained today but not too much.
My brain is empty now, I just wanna sleep...
